I was an engineer (Westinghouse), paralegal (Epstein Becker & Green), restauranteur (Magic Ming), broker (Okada), cartographer (Identity Map), fashion industry analyst (for Fashion Center/Garment District BID), a political candidate, and co-founded a club to help candidates from any party who want to run for office (Central Queens).
I ran for State Assembly, Borough President, Comptroller, and State Senate since 2001. For me, the 2026 election has alarms going off! No elected officials stepped up to stop the slide into deepening hate, divisiveness, affordability and misinformation. I will.
I have lived through 25 years of political chicanery, and witnessed first hand how power is gamed and abused. Top priority of politicians is to win the next election. Facts and problems are twisted. Expect the same over the next two years if re-electing the same politicians. Once they are re-elected, we lost 2 years of opportunity for a real change.
- Democrat and Republican leaders make secret deals.
- Competition is discouraged. A FAIR way to know candidates and to understand proposals on the ballot DOES NOT exist.
- Constituent services focus on easy fixes. Harder ones are referred to someone else, or filed away.

- Expose current and past deals even where records were destroyed or not available.
- Reward and protect whistle blowers.
- Identify gaps and missing records.
- Create a system for constituents to rate their elected officials.
We all want our government to do what’s right. But that’s not what’s happening inside. You know it. Danniel Maio when elected will expose and change it.
