Chancellor David Banks announced on September 29th that NYC Middle Schools could use grades again to determine which students to admit; and for high schools, the top 15 percent of students in each school and citywide will get first priority. Comptroller Brad Lander disagrees.

Admission begins October 6 for SHSAT; October 12th for High School; and October 26th for Middle School. What about those students who were admitted under de Blasio’s system? They should also be allowed for reconsideration. 3 to 4 years could mean a lifetime for them.
