When Manhattan DA, Alvin Bragg, and Brooklyn DA, Eric Gonzalez, declared not prosecute theft of service including trespass, resisting arrest, marijuana, etc., fare evaders, house squatting, random punchers, illegal stores proliferated. MTA’s solution? Congestion pricing, fare increase in 2025, more money for people to guard the gates, while evaders just jump the turnstiles in front of them.
Why not turn those guarding the gates to friendly greeters? Thank those who paid, and give out message flyers to those who jump.
Like, “(y)our payment will help us to improve service and to have cleaner stations.”
