Passed April 1, 2019 in Albany’s budget bill (same bill as Bail Reform), drivers are expected to pay an additional toll between $9 and $23 below 60th Street or $14 to $35 by mail starting 2021. Thanks to COVID, implementation has been delayed.
Update: July 1, 2022. MTA announced it was ready to implement the $1 billion tax by end of 2023. Already Mayor Eric Adams wants exemptions. Democrats won’t talk about it. The same press release disappeared from its website a few days later.
