Shots fired. Neighbors are scared of crime and drugs in this area.
Speed bump at 98 Street: Petition submitted
Neighbors submitted a petition in April 2021 for speed bump to State Assemblywoman, Jenifer Rajkumar, and are inquiring its status. Other concerns include rising crime, not enough parking space, many AirBnB households, homeless by Le Cordon Bleu on Jamaica Avenue.
85 Road and Dexter Court: Graffiti and Speed Bump
Neighbors removed graffiti themselves, but it keeps coming back. Petition for speed bump submitted, but no response.
80 Street between Park Lane South and Jamaica Ave
NationalGrid started to replace gas pipe lines at the beginning of 2022, and is still unfinished. Neighbors complained about trash, parking (most homes have no driveway), on and off repairs, homeless by Chase Bank, aging Post Office building, stolen packages, uneven temporary asphalt sidewalks (difficult for seniors), tilting tree guards…
Pitkin Ave and 80 St: Cars Donutting and Porch Pirates
It is a quiet corner by the cemetery. Residents have observed cars doing donuts and striking parked cars many times. Along this stretch, there is a rise of packages stolen.
Bayside Cemetery and 80 St: Trash and Shady Activities
Trash is dumped and ignored on this stretch of 80 Street and inside the cemetery. Since it is dark and not that populated, residents have observed people in parked cars doing sex and drugs.
