Work was done right before COVID. DoT’s Department of Design and Construction made homeowners’ parking life horrible. Cars could not fit safely after curb extensions, and space exiting and entering driveways is often a challenge. It should be designed with cars in mind!
The corner is one block east of Cross Bay Boulevard. 149 Street is a two-way street east-west; 94 Avenue is one-way north. To slow dow those speeding through to Linden Boulevard, perhaps a stop light is needed.
Complaints are from residents on Plattwood Avenue and 98 Street. Besides the elderly and children living in the residential neighborhood, there is also a Middle School 137. There are two stop signs on 114 Street, but not on 85 Avenue, two-way traffic on both street. I propose that for every vehicle accident, there should be a study to see whether transportation signage could have been a contributing factor.
Anyone driving southward on 72 Avenue in Forest Hills would end at Metropolitan Avenue. Turning right is fine, but if driver turns left, he would be stopped by another traffic light almost immediately.
