“Street crime has gotten out of control especially on the subway. Trees are not being replaced on Austin St. in Forest Hills; this will only hurt the shops on Austin St. as well as the real estate values in the entire neighborhood.”
“PS; the LIRR os building an extension along the track to increase passenger capacity but their lack of oversight will probably overlook the integrity of the architecture of the LIRR station as it is on the border of Forest Hills Gardens’.” Douglas (Forest Hills)
In July 2018, the LIRR station was extended to accommodate 12-car trains, part of then-Governor Cuomo’s 2016-2017 $2 billion LIRR upgrade budget. US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congresswoman Grace Meng secured about $18 million federal grant in 2022 to do repairs and to make it handicap accessible.
I propose that New York State Historic Preservation Office should make public its report on the station, and LIRR should post status of all projects. Forest Hills station is not listed on LIRR’s Project Activity Maps.
