Crime: https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2022-is-nyc-safe-crime-stat-reality/

NYPD statistics. https://www1.nyc.gov/site/nypd/stats/crime-statistics/citywide-crime-stats.page Yes Andrew, the numbers are on your side. I am sure you would agree that those numbers are based on actual arrests. Mayor de Blasio killed broken-window “stop and frisk”. Bail Reform says “catch and release”. How can you expect law enforcement to do its job arresting people when striking a police officer is promoted on social media?

My son has gone to public schools in our neighborhood.  He has learned and is currently learning a lot. My wife and I went to public schools in NYC.   Our son is learning, my wife and I are successful.  How is education failing?

Short-term metrics are measured by attendance, test scores, budget per student, budget per teacher/administrator. Long-term would be graduation rates, college readiness, and rates of suspension, teachers and teacher transfers, students and student transfers. None of this is available on DoE website. Is this success? There are 9.5% fewer students in the system, yet New York City Council would not allow a single dollar be cut in its budget. Is this success? Parents and teachers are not as optimistic as you. Neither are people watching students’ behavior after school. Is this success? Congratulations on your success, my job should I be your elected official, is to increase that success rate for every student, teacher and parent.

In your initial email you offer only fear.  Some of it based on nothing, as far as I can tell, or you might have offered evidence.  I eagerly await your response detailing legislation you will introduce dealing with inflation in food costs and the stock market.  Andrew (Forest Hills)

Inflation. A component of inflation is how much the government charges in its services, regulations and taxes. Taxes are easier to comprehend. Just like state’s gas tax, inflation could be dented by suspending or cutting. Here is a list of State’s taxes on food. Another tax on food is Health Department inspections. When a food establishment get $1,500 to $6,000 inspection tickets even if it were not its fault, owner has no grace period nor recourse to fight. Guess what owners do to cover the cost? I would propose a law for owners to fight those tickets.

Stock market… you don’t need me to tell you those federal rules & regulations and loopholes that could cause a stock to go up or down.

I am glad that we have this conversation. Let’s continue? At least we can agree to disagree.
