Caldwell Avenue was a two-way street, so it is wide enough to have two rows of cars: the main row for those turning right, and a secondary row for those turning left. Removing two parking spots at the end of the Avenue would encourage drivers to leave more maneuverable space for those turning left.
When cars merge into LIE service road from 58 Avenue, drivers look left at approaching cars. If service road cars are held up at the 69 Street traffic light, drivers would speed on the service road ignoring the stop sign and possible pedestrians crossing from drivers’ right.
Traffic volume is high during rush hour. Adding a second traffic light and making feeder roads one-way help, but those improvements beget other problems. The Moynihan Train Hall (was Station) opened January 1, 2021. It took nearly two years to acknowledge complaints about no public seating?! The MTA is governed by a 21-member Board. All the members are nominated by the Governor!
A Richmond Hill resident was complaining how E-bikers don’t follow traffic signs, rules, nor wear safety gears. Democrat representatives in Albany and in City Council legalized them in 2020, and cut rules on police enforcement. Bikes and E-bikes should not treated the same.
