The residents feel the City has a lower priority responding to their needs. Illegal activities continue. Tree trimming requires multiple attempts. Double-parking, reserved spots, hydrants, driveway blocking, out-of-state owners… Theft reporting is up to citizens to fix on their own. Response time has not been attentive. Quality of life is dramatically lower than before.
Hillside Avenue is a wide thoroughfare between Van Wyck Expressway and Lefferts Boulevard. There is a speed camera in the commercial section west of LIRR, but not in the residential section east.
It was installed about 3 years ago. It has attracted wrong people and wrong activities at the wrong time. Wednesday night boom box music until 2 am, drug use, dog poop, homeless, drinking, all happening at PS 54. It should be removed.
The building managed by MHANY has a gate warning bell that annoys tenants day and night when used. Can the owner turn it off?
Both ends of 125 Street between Jamaica Avenue and 89 Avenue are not thruways, yet cars speed down the one-way street south dangerously. NYC Department of Parks and Recreation has no solution after multiple inspections and attempts. Residents are afraid walking underneath the bridge at night. It is poorly lighted, a regular dump ground, pigeons roost here… MTA could install a camera, and live stream the feed. Public could access it and its recording.
